Every new blogger hopes their online writing will connect with people interested or invested in what they have to share. If we didn’t, we’d all still be journaling only and not posting anywhere publicly.
Did I know this blog would grow? Yes. But if you ask if I had a sweet clue that while I was struggling to sit still after taking a break from travel, my blog would start making moves beyond tiny Barbados into homes and hands in 75 destinations? No…i didn’t.
The journey of blogging didn’t start off as a sweet slow dance for me but as the longtime love for writing (something other than songs and scripts) was rekindled one post at a time, I began noticing one country after another popping up in the analytics part of this blog. I didn’t start off with a goal to reach this amount of people in that amount of places by such and such a time…in fact, I started writing online when it was one of the few things I had the strength to do consistently at that point in my life, beyond the basics.
I’ve grown since then and so has itsjoywithin.com
Thank you!
While I enjoy writing, the fruit of the content you’ll find on Joywithin blog is designed and intended to encourage and equip you. I don’t want to ever take for granted the fact that you choose to come by and read posts you like, share a link with someone you love, comment every now and then and subscribe to join the journey. Though the unction to write here is not to get clicks and ‘likes’ – it’s more to share for a purpose, I’m thankful its reaching you.
In quite a few posts written for aspiring bloggers, I mention the fact that people don’t have to visit our blog, read our posts or even like our content, so it means a lot when they do – when you do.
When you’re new to blogging, it can feel like you’re writing a message in a bottle, peltin’ it in the vast blue ocean and hoping that someone – the right set of someones sees it, picks it up, cares enough to read it, recognizes the value and hopefully does something good and productive with the info shared whether for themselves/others – or at the very least, has a brighter day because of the experience.
It’s not always a sure thing, but it is something sweet when the right set of people show up and shine through. So thank you!
Just a few months ago, itsjoywithin.com had readers from 25 destinations – and now – 75+ – and that’s a whole lotta grace, organic growth and 300+ posts – purposeful planning and S.E.O in motion but no social media ads, paid promotion or hard selling.
While I wouldn’t advise anyone to define their growth or success by figures, fans, subscriptions and notifications, I always want to remember that you are more than a number, demographic, destination or random reader. You are a living breathing someone taking and sharing time (amidst billions of sites) to be here. That means a lot to me. And hopefully it’s encouraging to you too if blogging is something you’re gearing up to do.
If you’re a new or aspiring blogger, you might find there’s little or no applause, confetti, bells or whistles when you share your vision or start your online writing journey at first. When you remember the purpose in your writing, and the person – the people on the other side of the screen, you’ll know it’s worth every effort to keep on writing…keep on sharing…set your rhythm and schedule well…keep on showing up (but don’t be afraid to take breaks), and always remember to give thanks in all things.
So thank you!
