What first comes to your mind when you think of “quiet mornings?” It’s no secret I enjoy them. Anyone who knows me well knows this. Do you? If so, what’s your favourite thing about them – and yes, you can totally mention the amazing blessing of being gifted with a new day, a fresh breath and your life purpose still unfolding.
There are more than a few posts here on the blog about quiet mornings and refreshing routines to start a productive work-from-home day, so this post isn’t gonna be wordy on the topic. Sometimes we have a tendency to want to compare but a vlog isn’t meant to be a template but more like a walk-through-getting-to-know you-here-are-some-options-and-recommendations kind of thing. This short video shares a little about what part of a calm, quiet morning can look like and we’re making corn soup.
Ingredients:
corn (on the cob – sliced)
1 and 1/2 onion (diced)
yellow split peas
garlic (whole pods & crushed)
salt (to taste)
3 fried okras (diced)
curry spice blend (my special mix – some named in the video)
1/2 pumpkin
1 and 1/2 cups of coconut milk
1 small potato (diced)
cayenne powder
dumplings (flour, sugar & a sprinkle of cinnamon)
creamed corn (didn’t have any this time or more cobs to make some but if you do, be sure to add some)

I wanted to let you know that I have tasted corn soup and It was delicious.
I have never heard of it until I went to a friend’s house for lunch and she served us this dish.
To my surprise I was shocked to see an ear of corn cut in half.
I wish I knew how to make it.
Sweet! It’s a popular delicacy in Trinidad & Tobago where my mum’s from. In case you missed it, I share the ingredients for this recipe under the video. Thanks for coming by and sharing.
