Hola, nice to ‘see’ you on this page, where you’ll see a blend of outdoor adventures and sweet venues in ‘Bim.’
I was born in Barbados, but have been a lifelong traveller until 2012, when I took a siesta from plane rides n’ car drives and began working (mostly) from home. The challenge of that tempo and scenery change and a fresh start as a new creation was a big part of what inspired me to start this blog.
Life went from doing everyday errands with my passport always sitting in my bag, ready for the next onstage booking that came with a plane ticket, fancy hotel room and shuttle.
I started to get a l’il antsy about being in one place, even though that came with the welcome opportunity to enjoy slow mornings, learn how to cook, garden and houseclean like it’s nobody’s business.
It dawned on me that a seed of ingratitude was growing in my heart – after all, I live where many save up for a whole year to visit for a week. Had I gotten used to the turquoise sea of the calmers coasts, melodies of tropical birdsongs, golden sands decorated with beautiful shells and dried sea fans, barefoot walks on the grass outside, coconut and casuarina trees dancing in the fresh air…the sweet aroma of frangipani flowers…the taste of delicious pawi mangoes and roast breadfruit…?
After travelling to 20+ destinations (so far), it took a minute of feeling a bit claustrophobic ’til I decided to embrace the opportunity and accept the challenge of finding new places and enjoying outdoor adventures on one island. This page shares some of those moments with you. Feel free to share the link to a post you like, with a friend who’d love to visit Barbados.
Bim has its challenges like everywhere has its own set of drama, but the island itself…is so beautiful.
